We made sure not to dissapoint in our last pick up for 2019. We were blown away by the generosity of our community and the best gift of all? Our clients will not have to worry about hunger over the holidays. It is crazy to think that such a small, simple gesture can make a huge impact on the lives of our neighbors in need.
So many of you stepped up as well as organizations around Boone. Appalachian Regional Healthcare System held thier own departmenal competition and we think it may have paid off. They contributed over 200 bags which totaled to more than 2,000 pounds for our pick up. The winners recieved a basket full of goodies and all the hot chocolate you can handle-wish we would have won it! Our faith organizations really showed up too including our newest donors Grace Luthrean. They were so excited to hand us all of their bags and even show off their Clemson pride-(Go Tigers). Organizations around Boone make A Simple Gesture the amazing success it is and it is so exciting to see how passionate they are to make a real difference.
Residents and neighbors around Boone really showed up too. We had so many households that gave more than just one bag. We were blown away at the kindness shown towards A Simple Gesture this holiday season. Fifteen volunteer drivers set out on December 7th to grab the bags and more than 30 sorters helped to sort it. There was Christmas music that filled the air as well as the sweet smell of Stick Boy goodies and coffee.
Thank you to each and everyone who helped to make A Simple Gesture what we know it to be today. Whether it was one bag, five pounds or a couple hours of your time, it made the biggest difference in the lives of the clients of Hunger and Health Coalition.
We are so excited to see what 2020 brings for A Simple Gesture. Thousands of meals have been able to feed our clients due to A Simple Gesture and we are pumped to continue helping each and everyone who may be in need. Thank you from our heart to yours.
